The department approves plans and issues permits for all construction in the City of Campbell. Our department makes sure buildings are safe and comply with building and house codes. We issue permits to ensure that proposed construction meets all safety requirement.

You must have a building permit to do construction.

Express Plan Check ADU Program Discontinued

Our new Express Plan Check program for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), designed to cut permit processing times down to just one week has been temporarily suspended. Please stay tuned for program updates.

Air Quality Ordinance

Zero NOx Standards

On September 3, 2024, the City of Campbell adopted an Air Quality Ordinance that prohibits NOx emissions from appliances and equipment in new residential and commercial buildings and substantial rebuilds using parts of existing buildings.

 

The ordinance covers appliances and equipment for space heating and cooling, water heating, indoor and outdoor cooking, and clothes drying. Limited exemptions are included for commercial cooking, gas-dependent processes (like a kiln at a pottery studio), and emergency equipment. Outdoor space heating or cooking using small propane tanks is also exempt.
